John J. Markwardt

Jack Markwardt was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on January 12, 1950. He attended Rutgers University and graduated, cum laude, from Albany Law School where he served as an editor of the Law Review, was a member of the Justinian Honor Society, and received the Dennis Prize for excellence in the study of tort law. He is the author of several published legal articles and has served on the Editorial Board of New Jersey Lawyer. He is licensed to practice in New Jersey, Pennsylvania, New York, Florida, and Georgia and before the United States Supreme Court and a number of federal circuit and district courts.

Jack is experienced in governmental matters, having served as an elected Township Council member, a planning board member, and solicitor to local planning and rent stabilization boards. He has drafted remedial legislation as an attorney for the New York Law Revision Commission, has served as a legislative aide in both the New Jersey State Senate and the New York State Assembly, and has chaired the Election Law Committee of the New Jersey Bar Association. Jack has extensive state and federal litigation experience and his areas of practice include commercial law, real estate, lending and foreclosure, title, planning and land use, municipal law, construction, corporate, partnership, labor and employment, personal injury, professional malpractice, insurance, entertainment, estates and probate, and family law.
